Loose weight by cutting down on what you eat. Don't just cut out food, simply reduce the portion sizes. Make sure what you eat contains plenty of protein, vitamins and minerals.

Stay full longer by choosing good carbohydrates such as brown rice, oats seed loaves and whole wheat pasta. Avoid eating french fries as it promotes health issues such as diabetes. Make sure your food intake consists mostly of oily fish, avocados, walnuts and olive oil.

Fish is good for your health. Oily fish such as salmon and sardines are high in omega 3 fatty acids that are known to protect the brain, eyes, the heart and is also known to ease depression.

While eating healthier is important to EXERCISE! Simply walking 30 to 40 minutes a day is an excellent start!

  2. Increase your fruit servings each day by slicing fresh fruit and place into a small container for snacks throughout the day. Treat yourself to fruits after every meal.
  3. Keep it ripe, fruits and vegetables in their whole form promises maximum flavor, while at the same time keeping the vitamins and antioxidants.
  4. Vegetables contain vital enhancing properties and keep your mind and memory sharp.  Vegans are less likely to die prematurely than meat eaters.  You do not have to be a vegetarian but try to serve meals with one to two leafy green vegetables and citrus fruits on the side.

THE IMPORTANCE OF PROFESSIONAL HAIR CARE

When it comes to hair anything goes in an effort to make us feel beautiful. Often this effort means the pursuit of professional hair care – that service that will keep our hair healthy and looking great.  Of course, such service comes at a price – some higher than others – but most find that it is more than worth the expense.

Can you cut your hair at home?  Yes you can.  Can you color your hair with the use of a product you picked up at your local drugstore?  Absolutely, but what you think you are saving in avoiding a professional will result in you spending much more in reconstructive treatments or you might even suffer from hair damage.

Professional hair care typically requires a trip to a salon where your hair will be washed, conditioned, cut, and styled. Your stylist can assess the health of your hair and determine if you need a deep conditioning treatment and what cut will work best with your particular hair.  Developing a long term relationship with a stylist allows you to know what you’re getting when you walk in; it also allows the stylist to get to know your hair and subsequently learn what to look for in determining the health of your hair.  Trimming the hair allows the hair to grow and keeps it healthy. If you do not trim your hair, the ends become split and your hair becomes dry, broken, and brittle.

For those who color their hair, professional hair care is even more important.  If done incorrectly, color can damage your hair long term.  A professional hair colorist cab expertly treat your hair and help you in the decision making process in efforts to help you decide what color looks best on your hair and against your face.

In addition it is always best for clients to set up a consultation with their stylist and for the client to be truthful  when discussing previous treatments.  This will make it easier for the stylist to determine the healthiest solutions to help you achieve the healthy hair that you want.  Also it is imperative for you to follow the recommendations that your stylist suggest in efforts to prevent damage.

Top 10 Foods for Healthy Hair

When it comes to healthy hair, it’s not just what you put on your tresses that count -- it’s what you put in your body, too.

"Lather, rinse, repeat" may be standard advice, but shampoo and conditioner alone won't give you the healthy hair you crave. For the most luxurious locks possible, you'll need to step out of the shower, and into the kitchen.

"Your hair grows about 1/4 to 1/2 inch every month, and the foundation of all of our new hair, skin, and nail growth is the nutrients we eat," says Dawn Jackson Blatner, RD, a Chicago-based dietitian. "If you eat a healthy diet, you will grow stronger and healthier cells throughout your entire body -- inside and out."

If you were born with fine, thin hair, you'll never have rope-thick tresses -- no matter what you eat -- but a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of growth-promoting protein and iron can make a difference, say nutrition and hair experts.

And beware of dietary supplements often marketed to thicken hair or make it grow faster. They may backfire.

"Even though you can find beauty supplements on the shelves of most stores, try to get the nutrients you need from foods whenever possible," Paradi Mirmirani, MD, a dermatologist in Vallejo, Calif., tells WebMD. "In rare instances, excess supplementation of certain nutrients, such as vitamin A, has been linked to hair loss."

Read on for the 10 top foods that should be the foundation of your healthy hair diet.

Healthy Hair Food No. 1: Salmon
When it comes to foods that pack a beauty punch, it's hard to beat salmon. Loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, this high-quality protein source is also filled with vitamin B-12 and iron.

"Essential omega-3 fatty acids are needed to support scalp health," says Andrea Giancoli, MPH, RD, a dietitian in Los Angeles and a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association. "A deficiency can result in a dry scalp and thus hair, giving it a dull look."

Vegetarian? Include one or two tablespoons of ground flaxseed in your daily diet for some plant-based omega-3 fats.

Healthy Hair Food No. 2: Dark Green Vegetables
Popeye the Sailor Man didn't eat all that spinach for healthy hair, but he could have. Spinach, like broccoli and Swiss chard, is an excellent source of vitamins A and C, which your body needs to produce sebum. The oily substance, secreted by your hair follicles, is the body's natural hair conditioner.

Dark green vegetables also provide iron and calcium.

Healthy Hair Food No. 3: Beans
Beans, beans, they're good for your ... hair?

Yes, it's true. Legumes like kidney beans and lentils should be an important part of your hair-care diet. Not only do they provide plentiful protein to promote hair growth, but ample iron, zinc, and biotin. While rare, biotin deficiencies can result in brittle hair.

Blatner, who is also a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association, recommends three or more cups of lentils or beans each week.

Healthy Hair Food No. 4: Nuts
Do you go nuts for thick, shiny hair? You should.

Brazil nuts are one of nature's best sources of selenium, an important mineral for the health of your scalp.

Walnuts contain alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid that may help condition your hair. They are also a terrific source of zinc, as are cashews, pecans, and almonds. A zinc deficiency can lead to hair shedding, so make sure nuts are a regular on your healthy hair menu.

Healthy Hair Food No. 5: Poultry
Chickens and turkeys may have feathers, but the high-quality protein they provide will help give you the healthy hair you crave.

"Without adequate protein or with low-quality protein, one can experience weak brittle hair, while a profound protein deficiency can result in loss of hair color," Giancoli tells WebMD.

Poultry also provides iron with a high degree of bioavailability, meaning your body can easily reap its benefits.

Healthy Hair Food No. 6: Eggs
When it comes to healthy hair, it doesn't matter whether you like your eggs scrambled, fried, or over easy. However they're served up, eggs are one of the best protein sources you can find.

They also contain biotin and vitamin B-12, which are important beauty nutrients.

Healthy Hair Food No. 7: Whole Grains
Sink your teeth into hearty whole grains, including whole-wheat bread and fortified whole-grain breakfast cereals, for a hair-healthy dose of zinc, iron, and B vitamins.

A whole-grain snack can also be a great go-to food when your energy is zapped halfway through the afternoon, and you've still got hours to go before dinner.

Healthy Hair Food No. 8: Oysters
Oysters may be better known for their reputation as an aphrodisiac, but they can also lead to healthy hair -- and who doesn't love that?

The key to their love and hair-boosting abilities is zinc -- a powerful antioxidant.

If oysters don't make a regular appearance on your dinner plate, don't despair. In addition to getting it from whole grains and nuts, you can also get zinc from beef and lamb.

Healthy Hair Food No. 9: Low-Fat Dairy Products
Low-fat dairy products like skim milk and yogurt are great sources of calcium, an important mineral for hair growth. They also contain whey and casein, two high-quality protein sources.

For some healthy hair foods "to-go," try throwing a yogurt or cottage cheese cup in your bag when you head out in the morning to snack on later in the day. You can even boost their hair benefits by stirring in a couple of tablespoons of ground flaxseeds or walnuts for omega-3 fatty acids and zinc.

Healthy Hair Food No. 10: Carrots
Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A, which promotes a healthy scalp along with good vision.

Since a healthy scalp is essential for a shiny, well-conditioned head of hair, you'd be wise to include carrots in your diet as snacks or toppings on your salad.
When it comes to foods for healthy hair and beauty, variety is the best way to go.

"An overall balanced diet of lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fatty fish like salmon and low-fat dairy will help keep hair healthy," Giancoli says.

If you're tempted to drop pounds fast with the latest fad diet, it could leave you with less-than-healthy hair -- along with a growling stomach. Low-calorie diets are often low in some of the most important nutrients for healthy hair, including omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and vitamin A. In addition to stunting hair growth and leading to dullness, super-low calorie plans may even cause hair loss.

"Crash diets can affect the hair cycle," Mirmirani tells WebMD. "Losing a significant amount of weight in a short amount of time can affect that normal hair rhythm. Two to three months later, you might notice a significant increase in shedding. This is a temporary problem that you recover from with a well-rounded diet."

Exercising not only can help keep your weight in check, but it also helps keep your metabolism going, gives you energy and can make you feel good about yourself. Exercising also helps keep your muscles and bones strong while keeping your joints flexible. Exercise can even help relieve stress --- which, the Mayo Clinic reports, can sometimes cause hair loss.

Eat right for healthy hair!

Great nutrition is the most effective way of getting awesome hair. Shiny, healthy hair is a reflection of a healthy body, so it's like two for the price of one. Just like your body, your hair needs a balanced, nutritious diet to stay healthy. So follow this recipe for healthier hair, and be amazed at the difference it makes!

Water
Water makes up one-fourth of the weight of a strand of hair. Moisture makes the hair supple, so make sure you get plenty of fluids. A key point is NOT to wait until you're thirsty. If you're thirsty, it means your body has already lost more water than it should have, and it's urging you to fill up the tank. Water not only hydrates your body, but helps keep your hair silky and shiny. Ideally, you should drink between eight and ten glasses of water a day.

Protein
Protein is the building block of hair, so a diet for healthy hair contains an awful lot of protein! Protein will give the shaft of your hair more strength, and will reduce the likelihood of dame through snapping and splitting. You can get protein from foods like fish, meat, milk, cheese and cereals.

Minerals
  • Iron helps to carry oxygen to the hair. Without enough iron, hair and its follicles get starved of oxygen. This means that the 'goodness' in the root of your hair is much less effective along the length of the strand. You can increase your iron intake by eating red meat and dark green vegetables, or by iron supplements.
  • Zinc builds hair protein which helps to prevent hair loss. Meat and seafood are the foods highest in zinc.
  • Copper is involved in the pigmentation of hair. You can optimize your natural color with a diet with plenty of copper. Shellfish, liver, fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds and meat are all high in copper.

Vitamins
  • Vitamin A will give you a healthy scalp, because it's great for the skin! You can get vitamin A from foods like vegetables - in particular, in carrots.
  • Vitamin B and C are important for good circulation, hair growth and hair color. If you ensure that you have enough vitamin B and C, you'll have strong, supple strands of hair that do not split. You can get these vitamins from eating foods like fruit, vegetables, cereals, eggs, milk and bread.

5 Tips for Choosing a Hairdresser

Good hairdressers are not entirely impossible to find.

You may have to search a bit in order to find a hairdresser with preferred skills including, experience, enthusiasm, knowledge and a pleasing personality. Choosing a good hairdresser is as important as choosing the right hairstyle or the right hair-care equipment. You will need to consider some factors before you zero in on a particular hairdresser.

5 tips on how to choose the best Hairdresser for you.

1. The best way to start the entire process of searching for a good hairdresser would be getting in touch with some of your friends or family members. They could know a good hairdresser or a good salon.

2. It is important that you never overlook the personality of a hairdresser even when going through referrals such as your friends. This is so because you may not necessarily feel comfortable with a person with whom your friend may feel so.

3. You can always try booking a special occasion hair do with a stylist, if you were to hear good things about him or her. This would give you a chance to evaluate the hairdresser’s skills.

4. Needless to say, whenever you are choosing a salon, pick one with a good reputation.

5. Communication is of vital importance when dealing with a hairdresser. Your stylist apart from giving you a hair cut should also be able to advice you on things such as hair care products, different hair styles and hair care equipment, to mention only a few.

Careful consideration of all these factors will help you choosing the right hairdresser.

The Benefits Of Salon Hair Care

For most of us, taking care of our bodies is a natural part of our day. We've been bombarded with the messages that tell us that diet, exercise, and taking care of ourselves on a number of different levels can result in increased healthy and vitality - and we've heeded the advice, heading to the gym and watching what we eat. But part of caring for ourselves includes taking care of the outside; how we look says a lot about who we are and putting care and attention into our hair, clothes, makeup, and overall grooming can make the difference in how people perceive us and, most importantly, how we feel about ourselves. Taking care of your hair, especially, will go a long way towards setting the tone for your overall style and pulling together a look that's uniquely you. And when it comes to making sure you look your best, salon hair care is paramount to healthy and attractive hair.

Salon hair care simply means the frequent visiting of a salon and professional hair stylist to ensure that your hair is healthy. Healthy hair is beautiful hair and there is no getting around this simple fact. For some, trimming their hair at home has become part of their routine. But a professional hair stylist can offer a level of expertise that will ensure that you have the hairstyle - and color - that looks best on you. And most important to remember is that salon hair care does not have to mean expensive hair care.

There are many high-end salons today that offer superlative service with expensive price tags. Depending on where you live, it is always possible to find hair salons that offer just as quality salon hair care at a much lower price and the answer lies in overhead. Look for smaller salons that have fewer stylists and are located just a little bit off the beaten path. It's a simple equation; when their rent is cheaper your salon hair care is cheaper.

Salon hair care will mean a professional cut and style along with a thorough shampoo and conditioning treatment. If you have particularly dry hair then salon hair care is imperative to maintaining a healthy level of moisture in your hair.

When it comes to color, salon hair care is the way to go in order to find the color that is right for you skin tone. More than anything, color that is not done professionally can go horribly wrong. Stick with the experts when it comes to coloring - and caring for - your hair; you won't be sorry.

Salon Etiquette - It is also the client's responsibility.

The vast majority of salon clients mean well, and have good intentions; but even the most well-meaning customer can cause distractions that may compromise the quality of the stylist's work.  I am not blaming anything on the clients, of course, but the process of cutting and styling hair requires some basic "salon etiquette".

Let's begin by examining the appointment-making process.  If you have a difficult time remembering appointments, write down the date and time on a piece of paper and place it where you won't forget about it.  Missed appointments (referred to as "no-shows" in salon lingo), seriously cripple a salon's ability to run on time . As a result, the receptionists and stylists have to re-work all of their standing appointments to accommodate for the loss.  Some salons require a client to notify the salon if they are running late or will miss their appointment.  If the salon hasn't been notified within a reasonable amount of time, they may impose a cancellation fee.  This is the same thing a doctor's office will do if you are a no-show for an appointment.  Failing to notify the salon is irresponsible, rude, and unnecessary. All it takes is a few seconds to dial a phone number.

When a client makes an appointment, the stylist has to block out at least 45 minutes of his or her time.  This time is a valuable commodity in the salon.  Just about every salon will understand if you need to change or re-schedule your appointment, and will make the necessary changes without any problems.  Totally ignoring an appointment is the ultimate expression of disregard for a stylist's time.

WHAT YOUR STYLIST EXPECTS FROM YOU!

BE ON TIME.
(Or no more than 15 minutes late.) "I schedule my haircuts every 45 minutes," says Louise O'Connor, owner of OC 61 Salon in New York City. "Once we're 15 minutes past your appointment time, there is no guarantee you'll be accommodated. But a call to the salon is appreciated nonetheless."

TREAT A FIRST VISIT LIKE A FIRST DATE.
"If it's the first time you're seeing a stylist, dress up a little," says Kevin Lee, creative director of the Kenneth Salon in New York City. This allows a stylist to get a sense of your personal style, so he can give you a cut that works with it. Along those same first-date lines, limit your revelations. Although having someone run his fingers through your hair is disarming, you probably shouldn't talk sex, religion, or salary with someone you've just met, whether he's sitting across the table from you or standing behind your chair.

RESEARCH THE SALON'S RATES — BEFORE YOUR VISIT.
Also, ask what forms of payment they take; not everyone accepts American Express, for example. This can prevent potential sticker shock or an embarrassing confrontation at the front desk after your appointment. If, however, your bill is way more than you expected, don't try to haggle with the receptionist. Ask (politely) to see the manager, who is empowered to do something.

TRY TO BE PATIENT.
"If you are early [thank you!] or your stylist is running a little late, do not walk up to the stylist, stare down the client in his chair, and start talking about your hair," says Lee. If the stylist is really running behind, however, it is perfectly acceptable to speak to the manager, says Lee. Most will try to appease inconvenienced clients with a free manicure, hair product, or deep-conditioning treatment, says O'Connor.

CHEATED? FESS UP.
"I actually don't mind if a client has gone to see someone else," says Luden Henriquez, a stylist at the Rita Hazan Salon in New York City. "If she's back in my chair, clearly I'm doing something right." But most experts say it's still good to come clean — especially if you've had a chemical service done elsewhere, which could cause an adverse reaction to any new treatment.

DON'T FORGET THE LITTLE PEOPLE.
If you're happy with your service, it's generally considered polite to tip at least 15 percent, says Roy Teeluck, a stylist and spokesperson for Nexxus haircare. (The one exception? It is not necessary to tip the salon owner, though most won't turn away a fistful of bills.) But it is always courteous to slip $5 to $10 to assistants (if your stylist has one) or to anyone else who aids with your haircut or color.
WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT FROM YOUR STYLIST:
HIS FULL, UNDIVIDED ATTENTION.
You are paying for his time and expertise, says Jonn Rhamani at Salon A-K-S in New York City, so a stylist should never walk away from you in the middle of a cut. Similarly, both a stylist and a colorist should remain in the salon until all of your treatments are completed and your hair is dry.

SOMEONE WHO LISTENS WELL AND NEVER BULLIES.
Ultimately, you are the one who has to wear the hair, says Henriquez, so a good stylist will never try to "talk you into" something you don't really want.

NO INAPPROPRIATE CONVERSATION OR CONTACT.
It's true that many client-stylist relationships do evolve into genuine friendships, says Teeluck. But if you and your stylist are mere acquaintances, then it's never OK for the stylist to initiate anything more intimate. If that is ever to happen, it must first come from the client.

Personal Grooming Tips for Business Women

Dressing for success includes more than just choosing the right outfit. To complete your professional look you must also consider accessories and personal grooming.

You should always dress to impress clients, investors, and customers, because a winning sales pitch is not enough to seal the deal. A woman's professional appearance needs to support her professional accomplishments.

If your business attire is distracting because it is too sexy, drab, or colorful, your business contacts may focus on how you look, not on your business skills.

Simple, But Important Grooming Tips for Business Women

  • Perfumes, Scents, and Odors in the Workplace: Do not let the first impression you make about yourself be your personal scent preferences!
Avoid wearing perfume and heavily-scented products in all business settings. You might like them, but they have no place in a business environment. Scents can trigger asthma, overpower a room, and are often more offensive than pleasing to others.
Never smell like smoke (if you smoke in a car, your clothing will always pick up the odor).
  • How to Present Professional Looking Fingernails and Hands: Women often use their hands to talk with so they become a focal point. It is important to have hands and fingernails looking professional -- not like you are heading out for a wild night on the town.
Nails should be clean, and trimmed or sculpted. Avoid wearing unusual or shocking nail colors. Nail art and nail jewels are not acceptable for business meetings.
  • Hairstyling Tips for Business Women: Style should be neat and conservative, and preferably off the face. With few exceptions, hair color should not be shocking or unusual (leave blue hair for Halloween). Hair sprays and gels that have a strong scent or odor should be avoided.
  • Business Makeup Advice: Keep it simple and appropriate for daytime. Wearing no makeup at all is almost as bad as wearing too much makeup.
  • Appropriate Jewelry for Business Women: Jewelry should not be noisy (no metal bangle bracelets), too large, or costume jewelry. Keep earrings small, simple, and above the earlobe.
It is better to wear no jewelry at all, than too wear too much jewelry. But all business women should at least wear a nice, conservative wrist watch.
Demonstrating that you care about your personal appearance communicates to the person you are meeting with that they are important to you. Paying attention to the details of your appearance sends a message to others that you will also pay close attention to business details, and the needs of your customers and clients.

Cheap Lace Wigs = Horrible Hairlines!

Ladies, don't get caught out there!

If you want your unit to look right you need to be careful where your purchase from and be prepared to spend a little money.  Now I  don not mean that you have to spend a mortgage payment, but remember "you get what you pay for" and cheap wigs look "cheap"!

Your Supplier and Stylist should be professional so that they can properly match up your unit with your needs.  The key here is to achieve a "natural look".  This cannot be done with a ton of hair in the hairline and a hairline that looks like a horseshoe.

The bottom line is that you have to use your common sense.  Your supplier/stylist should be able to answer all of your questions and they should require a consultation so that you can be properly measured for a excellent fit.  A wig that is too big or small can result in hair loss in addition to looking a "hot mess".

Finally, letting your friends or a non professional (check their work) apply and style your hair is DANGEROUS.  Trusting in a person who has not been trained is like going to a Fry Cook and asking him/her for a root canal; BAD IDEA.

Remember, healthy hair starts with you; so it is up to you to use your judgment!

Beauty Foods Fruits and Veggies To Make You Beautiful

With so many choices out there to brighten your skin, fight wrinkles, and get you glowing -- you can easily get lost in the beauty jungle. Here's an idea -- try opting for some natural ways to get firmer skin, fill in those lines and get a youthful flush. It's all in what you eat! Here are some foods to get you started!
  • Nuts: Snacking on a handful of almonds will give your skin some of the goods fats it needs to remain clear and luminous. Nuts in general are high in vitamin B complex, which help with not only skin cell restoration but also hair growth and dry skin. It gives your skin a more youthful appearance and will in turn help fight the early signs of aging (fine lines, wrinkles). So, for your afternoon snack, try a handful of unsalted, natural almonds -- just don't go overboard because it's easy to over indulge!
  • Avocado: This rich fatty food is high in all the fats your body needs, so it's OK to indulge. You put it on your face in mask form which does wonders for your skin, so why not try actually eating it and see the benefits. Eaten in moderation (don't eat one a day, or you will be packing on the pounds, too!) the mono-unsaturated fats you ingest will give clear, soft and smooth skin.
  • Fruits: We are always told to eat our fruits and vegetables, but fruits and their high vitamin C content can actually do wonders for your skin's appearance. Besides fighting off colds, vitamin C prevents pigmentation clumping (which leads to age spots) and strengthens capillaries so they don't break or bruise easily (this helps skin because you won't see tiny red lines on your face, especially around your nose and eyes). You can also get loads of vitamin C from dark green veggies like broccoli and spinach.
  • Asparagus: The dark green stalks are loaded with a natural source of vitamin E -- an essential for healthy and youthful skin. Vitamin E builds muscle and tissue, therefore keeping skin firm and helping to prevent wrinkles. Vitamin E also help restore skin cells, so if you have a damaged area (a scratch, sore, or even a scar) eating foods with high vitamin E content may help reduce or heal the problem area faster. So dish up some of this summer veggie because it will help you with summer beauty!
  • Salmon and tuna: These are the two powerhouse fish. They are loaded with those amazing Omega-3 fatty acids that do wonders for the body and they are also high in vitamin D. Vitamin D is great for skin because it helps keeps it fresh and promote an overall healthy appearance. While the sun's rays provide an ample amount of vitamin D, these days it's not safe to be outside soaking up the vitamin D rays without a strong sunscreen. So, instead try eating salmon or tuna a couple of days of the week to get enough.

By incorporating more healthy foods into your diet, you not only improve your health, but also improve the look and feel of your skin and give you a healthy blush. So instead of trying to read all the chemicals on the labels, try eating healthy first! Remember that before you take any supplement you should consult your doctor.

How to Make an Avacado Mask

Ingredients:
1 avocado
1 tsp of yogurt
1 tsp of honey

When the avocado is ripe, cut around the edges of the avocado and break apart.
No peel off the outter core.

To get glowing skin, you will have to mix up all of the items.  Mash up the avocado, honey and yogurt together in a bowl.  Take some of the avocado mask and smear it over your face in an even manner (be sure to use a generous amount).

Wait at least 20 minute before removing your mask.  You want the mask to set in deep so it reaches all of your pours.  Once the 20 minutes is up rinse your face gently with warm water.

The benefits behind facial masks

Facial masks provide deep nourishment to the skin, so why do so many people neglect this pampering product? Because it takes time—most masks need to remain on the skin for about 15 minutes.
And the benefits are many. Masks can be used to moisturize, detoxify, increase circulation and replenish nutrients; but above all, they add an extra dimension to the skin-care routine, and they are truly pampering.

Different types of Masks

Mature skin
Börlind LL Vital Cream Mask. This rich cream mask replenishes nutrients and oils in dehydrated skin as it supports cell renewal and improves circulation. This is a great mask for people with broken capillaries—it contains menthol, camphor and rosemary to stimulate blood flow and prevent circulatory congestion.

Zia Natural 15 Minute Face Lift. This mask is designed to give mature skin a pick-me-up. Cornstarch, wheat protein and silk powder firm the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance for up to 10 hours, the company says.

Dry skin
Beauty Without Cruelty Hydrating Mask. The natural humectants in this rich cream mask draw moisture to the skin and hold it there. Emollients like sunflower and jojoba oils condition the skin, and gentle herbs like German chamomile and lavender rejuvenate and nourish. This mask is mild enough to be used daily.

MyChelle Fruit Fiesta Peel."A peel is a mask that will dissolve and digest dead skin cells while accelerating exfoliation," explains MyChelle's founder Myra Eby. This peel uses alpha and beta hydroxy and fruit enzymes to remove dead skin cells; the antioxidants and vitamins then nourish the skin.

Combination skin
Aubrey Organics Sea Buckthorn and Cucumber with Ester C Moisturizing Mask. Formulated for combination skin, the botanicals in this mask were chosen because they won't dry out the skin or clog pores. Oatmeal and ground walnuts and almonds gently exfoliate and moisturize.
